Barangay West Kamias traces its roots to the pre-war era, originally part of a sugarcane plantation owned by the Tuazon family and named after the once-abundant kamias trees in the area. In the 1950s, it was developed under the People’s Homesite and Housing Corporation (PHHC) as part of Project 5.

The barangay was officially established on June 15, 1975, following the division of Barrio Kamias into East and West Kamias. Covering 17.210 hectares, West Kamias has grown into a vibrant residential community, home to the Holy Family Parish.

Today, Barangay West Kamias continues to progress through major infrastructure projects, including a new four-story barangay hall (2025), road rehabilitations, complete street lighting, and ongoing community facilities such as a Multi-Purpose Hall and Children’s Park, reflecting its commitment to development and public service.
